ISO: The Perfect Soundtrack - Pt.1

There's just so so SO much discussion online for the soundtracks for the Twilight movies... more than I've ever seen for any other movie, I think. I find this very curious. As if to say the entire story could be best told through the lyrics of others than the writing of Stephanie Meyer? Nah, I'm sure it's more to do with the mood that an excellent song can evoke, how it can change the atmosphere, make a room spin, send your heart fluttering and chills up your spine when the right song is as emotionally connected to the story as we are.

Or maybe all the discussion over twi-tracks is really inspired by Ms. Meyer herself, since she and Seth have done us the great kindness of adding playlists to her www with tunes that filled her days and nights while vampires and werewolves and dorky teen girls evolved and took shape in her mind. Music is clearly a driving creative force behind Stephanie, so it's no wonder why we all seem so up in arms over song choices to set the tone for her on-screen creations.

So I've had a number of songs in mind over the last few months for New Moon, songs which i feel lyrically and atmospherically capture the moment. First we need to consider, what KEY scenes are absolutely (ya'd think) going to make it to the big screen for book 2. Then sit and whittle down from the gazillion options what songs fit best in each scene. So having done this, here's my humble opinion.... and I really hope at least some of these make it in there.

SCENE 1 - Intro... Well, I don't see any reason why the Black Ghosts "Full Moon" can't be repeated for the intro credits. I feel like that song is basically the theme for the entire saga now.... but I haven't really thought about it much.

SCENE 2 - Bella's Birthday. Not entirely sure an actual SONG would fit this scene, but maybe some original instrumentals, or Bella's Lullabye soft in the background.

SCENE 4 - The End (Bella's meltdown in the woods). Evanescance "Immortal Beloved"
There simply is no other choice, to feel the scene from Bella's perspective. But what about Edward in this scene? How it must have been tearing out whatever inkling of a soul he had left to walk away... so for his theme track, if there had to be a second choice, I've considered Breaking Benjamin's "Evil Angel"... yes, a slightly edgier version of this downward spiral, but still lyrically fitting. What do you think?

Hold it together, birds of a feather, Nothing but lies and crooked wings.
I have the answer, spreading the cancer, you are the faith inside me.
No, don't leave me to die here, help me survive here.
Alone, don't remember, remember.

[Chorus]
Put me to sleep evil angel.
Open your wings evil angel.

I'm a believer, nothing could be worse, all these imaginary friends.
Hiding betrayal, driving the nail, hoping to find a savior.
No, don't leave me to die here, help me survive here.
Alone, don't surrender, surrender.

[Chorus]
Put me to sleep evil angel.
Open your wings evil angel.
Fly over me evil angel.
Why can't I breathe evil angel?

or maybe another BB track, "Unknown Soldier", is a better choice?

Border line, Dead inside. I don't mind, Falling to pieces.
Count me in, violent Let's begin, feeding the sickness.
How do I simplify, Dislocate - the enemy's on the way.

[Chorus:]
Show me what it's like To dream in black and white,
So I can leave this world tonight.

Full of fear, Ever clear. I'll be here, Fighting forever.
Curious, Venomous, You'll find me Climbing to heaven.
Never mind, Turn back time. You'll be fine - I will
get left behind.

[Chorus]

Holding on too tight. Breathe the breath of life,
So I can leave this world behind.

It only hurts just once. They're only broken bones. Hide the hate inside.

Oh.
[Very quiet voice:]
Forever ... one
I'll be fine

[Chorus]

Holding on too tight. Breathe the breath of life,
So I can leave this world behind

To be continued...

Site updates and other rants & ventilations...

It's been a busy month or so for us since we recently moved, so the website updates have been sort of scarce.. but this weekend I had some time to add some new goodies. I'm also working on expanding the Edward/Bella/Jacob pages, so keep an eye on those as well.

I am also extremely disappointed with my attempt to bring you the COMPLETE MTV Movie Awards (twi-edited of course), but apparently youtube has some auto-sniffer software that believed my content to be infringing of Viacom's rights, so they removed my video links the moment I posted them.. which really ticks me off since I spent over 3 hours converting the video from the dvd player on tv to compter-friendly-formats not to mention the editing time.... of course i a m not infringing anything!! No money is changing hands, I recorded and edited the clips.. but whatever... Viacom sucks. I'll find another way to share my video fruits somehow ;)

Perhaps the most notable thing in our household lately is that Abby is finally NEARING the finish line reading New Moon with less than 4 chapters to go, and she has FINALLY returned to her senses and rejoined the TEAM EDWARD crowd!

YAY ABBY, but c'mon kiddo, it's been 6 months since we got the series and you haven't finished book 2?? SLACKER.... ;) Well the good news is that summer vacation has just begun, maybe she will finish the books before school starts.... or before the next movie is out... or before she gets old and dies... whichever comes first!

Twilight Top 10

TOP 10 REASONS 'TWILIGHT' MOVIE IS BETTER THAN THE BOOK:

10. the book contains waaay too many pages of Bella droning on about irrelevant flighty things
9. Bella is less dorky in the movie than the book (though this could be a con also)
8. better humor on screen than on page (sex, money, sex, money, CAT)
7. reading the book took me 12 hrs... watching the movie is faster (instant gratification!)
6. the meadow scene brought to life
5. Billy Burke
4. Taylor Lautner
3. seeing Edward sparkle (better on DVD!!)
2. seeing the first kiss scene in Bella's bedroom

and, as if you had to guess.....

Welcome Twilighters!

Hello there! I hope you're enjoying the website and appreciate the time you're taking to look around. My apologies, things may seem a bit sparce around here right now, but I'm in process of making that right....
As you can maybe discern already, I seem to have a little "problem"... About 6 months ago, I had never even heard of Twilight. Then my daughter decided I HAD to take her to see the movie last December. Since then, the rest is history and I think she regrets asking me to go.... I had read all 4 of the books within 5 days (starting the night we saw the movie). I've become a chronic Team Edward vampire-o-haulic, completely addicted to the story (why oh why did it have to end, and please oh please, I hope Stephanie Meyer finishes Midnight Sun someday in our lifetimes!). Apparently it embarasses my 12 yr old daughter by my admitting as much... but she's young, she'll get over it! :)
To tide me and my obsession over until November 20, 2009 I decided I needed a hobby, an outlet for the OCD. Really, I can only re-read the books so many times (up to like 5 each already?). I just decided yesterday morning to start building Bella's Fella (the website)... but what good is a website if it's not interactive? So the blog and the forum and any other goodies I come across are all being placed in as we go. Site content would be fascinating wouldn't it?? Maybe you all can help with that. Send me whatever you'd like to see added to the site. All suggestions are welcome!
So anyway, thank you for coming to this little blog. Hope to hear from as many folks as possible, if for no other reason than to feel like I am not alone in my unnatural obsession with fictional characters. Share your likes/dislikes of the Twilight Saga, the actors, the movies, or vampires & werewolves in general... and help us pass the next several LOOOONG months waiting for the New Moon movie together!
